Microsoft Innovation != theft

Great post by Rory about the theft of ideas.

I’ve often used the analogy that MS is to software what the Japanese are to cars – they are experts at taking a bunch of good ideas invented by others (and adding quite a few of their own), polishing the implementation, making them accessible to the masses, then mass marketing so the masses are bound to choose them. Bravo, capitalism at its best. Gives me an entire market economy to base my business in, along with thousands of other companies. How could that be a bad thing?
